Bars to Process |
This option controls how many historical bars are actually processed for pattern activity, and it directly impacts how long it takes the indicator to load. Be very careful when adjusting this setting.
The range is from 100 to 15000 and the default is 400.
When trading, you generally do not care about any historical patterns that are more than a few bars old. With the default setting of 400, the indicator will start looking for patterns once the bar it is processing is less than 400 bars away from the last bar in the chart (i.e., the most current price bar). In this scenario the indicator loads very quickly and will display more than enough recent historical patterns.
If you set Bars to Process to a much larger value like 3000, for example, then the indicator will need to process the most recent 3000 bars for pattern activity and as a result it will take much longer to load.
When using the indicator during the trading day we strongly recommend keeping this value at or below 400. After hours, or on the weekend, if you want to scroll back in time through a chart to view all historical patterns then you can adjust this value up to the 15000 level. Keep in mind, however, that you will likely never be able to see ALL historical patterns since TradingView has a fixed limit on the total number of lines and labels that any one indicator can draw on the chart. So even if you set Bars to Process to 15000 in reality you may only be able to see patterns over the last few thousand bars.
