Window |
This is the data window size to use when performing the cycle analysis. Valid values are 64, 128, 256, 512 and 1024. Based upon the window size you select, the requisite number of bars will be loaded and passed to the MESA function for analysis. Default value is 512. |
UCycle |
Upper cycle period limit. Range is from 20 to 300. Default is 105. This represents the highest Cycle Period value that you want displayed on the histogram. You can use this to filter the display output. |
LCycle |
Lower cycle period limit. Range is from 1 to 200. Default is 4. This represents the lowest Cycle Period value that you want displayed on the histogram. You can use this to filter the display output. |
Source |
Select the price source to use for the cycle analysis calculation. You can select from "Close", "Open", "High", "Low", "HL2", "HLC3", and "OHLC4". The default is "HL2". |
History |
The MESA cycle calculation is quite CPU intensive so we do not calculate the spectrum as of each bar in the entire data series. Rather we will calculate the spectrum for the most recent number of bars specified in the History field. Range is from 1 to 300. The default is 100, meaning that a full spectrum (using the Window size specified above) will be calculated for the most recent 100 bars of price data in the chart.
Assuming you have selected 100 bars of history and assuming the Window size is set to 512 (bars) then the indicator will make 100 passes and each time it will be processing the spectrum for 512 bars of price data (for a total of 51,200 bars). And if History is set to the maximum of 300 bars then the total number of bars processed would be 153,600! So, even on a very fast computer, if you select the maximum History of 300 bars it may take a few seconds for the indicator to complete the calculations and load into the chart.
Note: If you load this indicator into Technician while on a mobile device, the default value for History will be 10 bars rather than 100. |
