Data Window

[cycleAnalyzer, cycleProjector and cycleProjectorXT]

The default value is 256. You can select from 128, 256, 512 and 1024.

This parameter controls the amount of price data (e.g., the number of price bars) that is used in the cycle analysis process. The following guidelines should help you to select the correct Data Window size:

Daily or Weekly Bars

The default setting of 256 should work fine in most cases. You should also experiment with settings of 512 and (if you have enough data) 1024. The higher settings will expose longer cycles.

Intraday

When using the cyclePack indicators with intraday data, you should experiment with the default setting of 256 as well as the shorter 128 setting. The 128 setting will force the indicators to focus on the strongest short-term cycles that are present in the data and, in many cases, these are more relevant in terms of catching short-term price swings. If you have enough screen space, we would recommend loading 1 copy of cycleAnalyzer using the 256 setting, 1 copy of cycleProjector using the 256 setting and a second copy of cycleProjector using the 128 setting. The copy of cycleProjector set at 256 will most likely emphasize cycles in the 50 to 90-bar range while the cycleProjector set at 128 will emphasize the strongest cycles less than 50 bars in length. Using both together can often provide a clearer picture of what to expect.

[cycleMABands]

The default value is 256. You can select from 64, 128, 256 and 512.

This parameter controls the number of bars that will be used for the Linear Prediction calculation. In most cases, the default value will provide the desired results. You can experiment with different Data Window sizes to achieve the fit you want.
